4060 Quirks
Installing SBC/Prodigy expressContinues to repeat same step on restart (4060 modem attached but not found)- Quit or Cancel setup
- Remove CD from drive
- Right click "My Computer"|Properties|Device Manager|View Devices by Type ENI SpeedStream 4060
- Remove any "Unknown" or "Other Devices"
- Check under "Network Adapters" for ENI 4060 or ENI Installer, remove if there.
- Also under "Network Adapters" remove "Microsoft Virtual Private Network"
- Restart computer.
- On startup you should see "New Hardware Found".
- Insert SBC/Prodigy CD.
- Let "Wizard" search for Drivers. (Should find ENI 4060).
- Restart & rerun SBC/Prodigy setup.
- Click "skip" when setup tries to install 4060.
4060 Drivers installed but in Device Manager, ENI 4060 properties shows "Device not responding to it's Drivers"- Unplug USB cable from 4060 or Computer (whichever is easiest).
- Replug USB after 10 seconds.
- Wait up to 2 minutes. (Windows should reload Drivers)
- Check properties again, should say "This device is operating properly".
- If it still says "Device not responding to it's Drivers", repeat the steps above.
- You may need to repeat these steps everytime the computer is restarted.
- Cure # 1 - Download Microsoft Timer Update Here - USBtimerup or http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q240/0/75.ASP
- Cure # 2 - Download Updated Drivers from www.efficient.com
- Cure # 3 - Download Updated USB Drivers from your computer manufacturer.
- Cure # 4 - Call SBC DSL Helpdesk 1-877-722-3755 follow prompts for "SELF-INSTALL" & have 4060 traded for 5260 Modem (this Modem connects with a Network Adapter Card which will have to be installed inside your computer, it comes with a Kingston card but you can use an existing card if you have one in your computer ((some 3COM NICs have caused problems)).
